Responded to a confirmed 859 call at 2:27:00 p.m. EST on Saturday June 8, 2013. We were called to the scene of a deceased male, age 18 found in the backyard pool of his parents’ home. Our responsibilities were to secure the perimeter around their home from media or public interference with medical emergency services and police officials. We documented the scene, inclusive of location of the pool skimmer with damaged rod and restricted access to the north east side of pool where powerline is sagging within dangerous proximity to the pool deck.
Next our job was to take eye witness testimonies from the girlfriend, female age 17 who found the deceased male upon visiting the home. We also secured the family within the home away from media and proceeded to interview each member separately. Sister, female age 15 was in her bedroom at the time of the incident. Mother, female age 42 was seated at the kitchen table reading email. Father, age 47 was in the garage adjacent to the home working on his sons vehicle. In the absence of witnesses to the incident which caused the young male’s death, working assumption is based on observations of the scene and medical examiner report indicating death occurred prior to entering the water, caused by electrocution.
